Frame mounts from Toni System are a rare breed of accessory – you won't find them for many pistols, and only a handful of CZ models are supported.
But if your CZ is one of them, a frame mount can noticeably change how the gun behaves under recoil. In this short article, I'll explain how frame mounts work, what they improve, and how to decide whether one makes sense for you.
Two functions: weight & mounting interface
1. Counter-weight
The primary job of a frame mount is to add weight to the very front of your pistol. Extra weight at the muzzle end resists muzzle flip, so the sights settle back on target faster – and your follow-up shots come quicker and with less effort.
Toni System makes these frame mounts in two materials, depending on how much weight you want to add:
- aluminium – for a lighter, more subtle effect, and
- brass – for the maximum possible weight.
To put the numbers in context:
- A factory CZ Shadow 2 weighs 1,320 grams.
- The aluminium frame mount adds 59 grams to the front of the gun.
- The brass frame mount adds 186 grams – roughly 14 % of the gun's total weight, placed exactly where it fights muzzle flip the most.
That weight alone makes a real difference during recoil. But there's a second benefit that many shooters appreciate even more.
2. Mounting interface
A frame mount also serves as a mounting platform for accessories that otherwise can't be installed on a CZ:
- a thumb rest – mountable on either the left or right side, so it works for both right- and left-handed shooters,
- a Picatinny rail underneath – for lights, lasers, or any other Picatinny-compatible accessory.

The thumb rest is where things get interesting: it lets the thumb of your support hand actively push the front of the gun down during recoil. Combined with the added weight, the two effects reinforce each other.
How to install
You can install frame mount to your CZ very easily. All the screws are included, you just need a screwdriver and the most basic level of skill in your hands.
It does not require any modification of your CZ, nor otherjustments whatsoever.
Conclusion
If muzzle flip is slowing down your follow-up shots, a frame mount paired with a matching thumb rest is one of the most effective upgrades you can make. The weight alone tames recoil considerably – and with your support-hand thumb pressing down at the front, the muzzle barely moves at all.
The difference is most dramatic on polymer-framed CZs (such as the CZ P-10 C or P-10 F), where the added front weight transforms the shooting experience. But even all-metal guns like the CZ Shadow 2 or SP-01 Shadow become noticeably flatter-shooting.

Not sure which material to pick? Brass adds more weight and reduces recoil more – if maximum recoil control is the goal, brass is the way to go.
