The CZ Shadow 2 is a popular pistol for IPSC and other dynamic disciplines, and you can tune almost every part of it. Grip, magwell and base pads
The Shadow 2 uses the full size CZ frame, so you can choose from all full size grips, in aluminium, brass, G10 or polymer. Long grips reach to the bottom of the frame. Short grips leave room for a magwell. Magwells for the Shadow 2 come from CZ, Toni System and Eemann Tech, in aluminium or brass. A brass magwell adds weight, for example 60 g for the Toni System and 93 g for the Eemann Tech version. Lok Gridlok and Boss Components Palm Swell sets give you short grips and a magwell that match.
The factory base pads of the Shadow 2 are not compatible with a magwell. If you add one, choose base pads marked magwell compatible. Base pads for the Shadow 2 add from 0.5 to 8 rounds, depending on the model.
Sights and red dots
The factory front sight of the Shadow 2 is 7.5 mm high. You can replace the sights with adjustable sets from CZ, LPA and Zendl, or fit only a new front sight, for example a Zendl front sight with fiber optic. The Shadow 2 Orange has its own front sights. To move the rear sight without a hammer, the Armanov rear sight pusher fits the Shadow 2.
For a red dot, check your slide first. On the Shadow 2 OR, the red dot sits on an Optics Ready plate in the slide cut. On a Shadow 2 without the cut, a red dot mount from KMR, Zendl, EGW, Toni System, Eemann Tech or Outer Impact replaces the rear sight in its dovetail.
Trigger, hammer and safety
The Shadow 2 is a double action and single action pistol. You can choose SA/DA triggers that keep double action, and SA triggers in several shapes and positions for short or long fingers. Hammers come in light, heavy, thin and retro versions from Eemann Tech, Ultimate and KMR. For the safety, you can choose flat, wide, ambidextrous or competition levers from CZ, KMR, Eemann Tech and Ultimate. For a firm support hand, slide stops with a thumb rest from Eemann Tech and BT give your thumb a fixed place.
Springs and recoil
Springs let you tune the trigger and the recoil. Eemann Tech makes calibration packs of recoil springs from 9 to 12 lbs and main springs from 7 to 13 lbs, as well as competition springs for the trigger group. The DPM recoil reduction system replaces the factory recoil spring and guide rod with a multi-spring rod. For more weight under the barrel, Toni System makes guide rods in brass, steel and Ergal, and Eemann Tech a stainless steel guide rod.
Magazines and holsters
Original CZ magazines for the Shadow 2 hold 17 or 19 rounds of 9x19, in standard or nickel finish. The 19 round magazine is longer, so aftermarket base pads are not recommended on it. For carry and the range, RH Holsters makes kydex holsters for the Shadow 2 in IWB and OWB versions.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put a red dot on my CZ Shadow 2?
Yes. On the Shadow 2 OR you fit an Optics Ready plate for the footprint of your red dot. On a Shadow 2 without the Optics Ready cut, a red dot mount replaces the rear sight in its dovetail. You need no milling in either case.
I am adding a magwell to my CZ Shadow 2. Do I need new base pads?
Yes. The factory base pads are not compatible with a magwell. Choose base pads marked magwell compatible in CZ Shadow 2 base pads.
Do parts for the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow fit my Shadow 2?
Many do. Full size grips, base pads, the 17 and 19 round magazines, red dot mounts and many springs and trigger parts fit both pistols. Several sight sets fit both as well. Safeties differ, so choose them in the Shadow 2 collection.
Can I change the grips on my CZ Shadow 2 at home?
Yes. You need only a screwdriver.
- Unload the pistol and remove the magazine.
- Unscrew the grip screw on each side.
- Put the new panels on and tighten the screws.
