The safety lever is the control your thumb touches on every shot. On many CZ pistols the shooting thumb also rests on it. A lever with the right size and position gives your thumb a stable rest and lets you switch the safety without changing your grip. You can choose safeties from CZ, KMR, Eemann Tech and Ultimate for CZ pistols, and from Ascalon Arms, Strike Industries, Manul and Neoteric Designs for the Scorpion Evo 3 and Bren 2.
Safeties for your model
The Shadow 2, Shadow 2 Compact and TS 2 take the same safeties. KMR also makes a separate line of safeties for the CZ 75 SP-01 and SP-01 Shadow.
Flat or wide, one side or both
The product name tells you the shape and the side of the lever.
-
Flat levers are thin and low. They suit shooters who do not rest the thumb on the safety, or who want a slim pistol for carry.
-
Wide levers are enlarged. They give the thumb a larger rest and make the safety easier to operate.
-
Left means the lever is on the left side, for right hand shooters. Right means the right side, for left hand shooters. Ambidextrous means levers on both sides.
-
Angled levers from KMR have a bevelled wide lever on the left side.
Original CZ safeties for the Shadow 2 and TS 2 come as flat, wide ambidextrous, wide left and wide right. KMR offers the same choice, plus the wide left with an angled lever, for the Shadow 2, TS 2, SP-01 and SP-01 Shadow.
Competition safeties
Competition shooters often tune the exact position of the lever. For the Shadow 2 and TS 2 you can choose:
- the Eemann Tech front-shifted safety, moved 2 mm forward. It creates more space between the trigger finger and the lever.
- the Eemann Tech low profile large safety, 3 mm lower and farther than the factory large safety, with large serrations for the thumb.
- the Eemann Tech competition safety, which copies the shape of the factory wide safety and works smoothly with the safety plunger.
- the Eemann Tech flat safety, a low-profile lever for shooters who do not use the safety as a thumb rest.
- the Ultimate safety, 2 mm forward with an enlarged shield that supports the thumb.
For the right side, Eemann Tech makes a low profile large safety for the Shadow 2, TS 2, CZ 75B and SP-01. It sits 3 mm lower and farther than the factory lever and works with the factory left-side safety.
Safeties for the Scorpion Evo 3
The Scorpion has a fire selector instead of a thumb safety. You can choose:
- the Ascalon Arms ambidextrous safety lever kit V2.0, CNC machined from 7075 aluminium with a hard anodized finish,
- the Ascalon Arms ambidextrous safety lever kit in PA12 polymer with an extra rough surface,
- the Ascalon Arms aluminium safety delete, which removes the lever but still shows the position of the safety,
- the Strike Industries extended safety selector, which you can operate with the thumb and the index finger,
- the Strike Industries ambidextrous selector set of three pieces, for use on both sides or on one side only.
Safeties for the Bren 2
For the Bren 2 you can get extended safety selectors from Manul in polymer and extended safety levers from Neoteric Designs with a large thumb pad. Neoteric also makes an over-travel limiter cog. The factory levers go slightly past the fire position, and the cog stops them exactly where they should.
How to choose
- Decide if you rest your thumb on the safety. If yes, choose a wide or large lever. If not, choose a flat one.
- Choose the side by your shooting hand, or choose ambidextrous.
- For competition, choose the lever position that fits your grip, forward or low.

Frequently asked questions
Which safety should I choose for my CZ if I rest my thumb on it?
A wide or large safety. It gives your thumb a bigger rest. For competition, the Eemann Tech front-shifted or low profile large safeties also move the lever to a better position for your thumb.
I shoot left handed. Which safety fits my CZ?
A wide right or an ambidextrous safety. A right-side lever is made for left hand shooters, and an ambidextrous safety works for both hands.
Do safeties fit all CZ models?
No. Safeties are made for specific frames. The Shadow 2, Shadow 2 Compact and TS 2 share safeties. The SP-01 and SP-01 Shadow have their own.
